Many sellers are starting now to tag for the fall sale and are asking can be brought to the sale.

Each seller may bring 25 items in women’s sizes (clothing, shoes, handbags, & costume jewelry).

The Murray sale does not have an overall item limit.

Elizabethtown sellers are limited to 150 items each.  Sellers who sold more than 80% of the items entered into inventory at the prior season’s sale may bring an additional 100 items.  Sellers must contact us for approval before entering more than 150 items.

We do have a minimum price of $2.00 for all newly tagged items. If an item is not worth $2.00 you may group like items together and sell them as one item (example – several similar books or three shirts in the same size). If you have items tagged using MyConsignment Manager from other sales at less than $2.00, don’t worry, but all items tagged new for our sale must be at least $2.00.

We accept boys and girls clothing in sizes from preemie to 18 or 20. Girl’s teen clothing should be in junior’s sizes which are odd numbers, not even numbers for adult women. Larger boys sizes like pants sized by waist measurement and length will be accepted. Teen sizes need to be in styles appealing to teens. We accept maternity & nursing clothing and each seller may bring 25 items in women’s sizes (clothing, shoes, handbags, & costume jewelry).

We sell much more than clothing.  We accept indoor & outdoor toys, shoes, accessories, books, bicycles, movies, strollers, highchairs, pack-n-plays, scrapbooking supplies, and so much more.  If babies, children, or teens can use it, we’ll probably accept it as long as it meets our quality standards.

Jeans, polo shirts, capri pants, and overalls are appropriate for both spring and fall sales.  Long sleeved items that might be worn on Easter such as button-up dress shirts or light sweaters will be accepted, but other long sleeved clothing and heavy, wintery fabrics will not.

We are now registering sellers & volunteer workers for the Elizabethtown Spring 2012 Sale.  To sign up, use the “register/log-in” link and make your selections now.  We can’t wait to see everyone again!   Sellers for the Murray Spring 2012 can also register now and get started entering items.  We’ll begin registering volunteer workers on March 15.

With Kentucky Kids Consignment Sales, YOU set the price for your own items, YOU decide if you want your items sold at half-price on the last day of the sale, and YOU receive at least 70% of each item’s selling price. You can choose to donate your unsold items to charity and we’ll handle the donation for you – but YOU still get the tax deduction.  You DO NOT have to be present during the entire sale. You will prepare and tag your own items at home, bring them to check-in, and we’ll do the rest.

Our dedicated crew of volunteer workers is the driving force behind our event.  Without volunteers, the sale could not happen!  We love getting to know you and watching you get to know each other.  We reward our helpers with admission to our exclusive presale events.  Volunteer workers shop before the sale opens to the public and receive first choice of all our quality items! You DO NOT have to be a seller in order to work a volunteer shift and shop the presales. There are several different four hour shifts available.

Tickets are also on sale for our  Elizabethtown New Parent Presale.  Ticket sales for Murray will begin on March 15.  This event is for expecting parents or parents with children born after August 15, 2010. Tickets are required for each adult shopping during the event. They are limited and are expected to sell out before the week of the sale. Sellers & workers shop earlier than New Parents, so for the best selection of items at the sale, register to sell or volunteer your time with us.

We are also registering new sponsors. If you are interested in finding out more about our sponsor program and how to get one of the great-looking graphic ads on our website, please email me for the full scoop.

With the holidays approaching, many busy moms are focused on getting the entire house organized & ready for guests.  While you are packing up & putting away, keep Kentucky Kids Consignment spring sales in mind!  Our Elizabethtown sale is March 1-3, 2012 and our Murray sale is April 26-28, 2012.

Here are five quick tips to making selling at our spring sales even easier:

1)  Prepping items a little at a time makes it easy!

  • As your child grows out of it, clean it, tag it and store it!
  • As winter hits, those shorts and short sleeved shirts are now ready to be consigned, they won’t fit next year!  Check the items to make sure they are in good shape and prepare them to sell.
  • As you are making room for new Christmas toys, collect all of the pieces for toys the kids have outgrown.   Clean, prepare and store them!  Of course, this usually means hiding them until spring  in the “storage ” area.
  • Storage tips – Find an unusable storage space, hang a pipe and you are good to go!  One good place is the space under the roof where you can’t stand up – perfect for kid’s clothes!

2)  Be an early bird

  • Get registered early.  The Elizabethtown sale can accommodate only 450 sellers for Spring 2012 and registration will end when that number is reached.  Don’t be left out!
  • Choose your volunteer shift & check-in time as soon as you can.  Popular time slots fill quickly and the time you need may not be available if you wait until the last minute.
  • Working two volunteer shifts earns you an EXTRA 5% of your sales, so come have some fun and maximize your effort.  We have many moms and daughters, husbands and wives, sisters and friends that volunteer together so they can SHOP together!  Snacks and water are provided.

3)  Collect your supplies ahead of time

  • Grab some hangers every time you hit the store or dry cleaners.  Elizabethtown sellers will need to use all WIRE HANGERS for spring 2012.  Be on the lookout for friends or family that might use dry cleaners and have extra hangers.  Post on Facebook that you are looking for wire hangers for the sale, you might be surprised at how many people will respond!
  • Look for cardstock, tape, batteries and safety pins on sale.  Buy in bulk and split supplies with another seller.  Look out for battery coupons and sales – you can even find them free after coupons a few times a year.  All items requiring batteries must have them.

4)  Share the love

  •  Tell a new mom about the Kentucky Kids Consignment Sale.  Tell her participating in the sale has helped you both MAKE and SAVE money, then offer to help her get started.
  • Watch a few chick flicks and laugh as you and a friend prepare your items.
  • Team up with a friend to watch each others kids during your volunteer shifts, then leave the kids with hubby or grandma so you can shop the presale together.

5)  Get your family involved

  • Husbands, mothers, mother-in-laws, sisters, & friends are all great at helping, especially when everything  is already organized and they know what to do.  They can help enter items online, pin, pack items up and even iron items that need it if you are really sweet :-)   You will be surprised who will help if you ask nicely.
  • Let the kids help too!  Preparing items for the sale is a great tool to help them learn the importance of earning and spending money wisely, recycling and how to take care of their items.  Make it a family project and your kids will learn valuable lessons from your example.

We’re working hard on website updates and preparing the MyConsignment Manager system for Spring 2012 sales.  Keep an eye on your inbox and our Facebook page so you’ll be the first to know once seller registration is open and you can have a quick, organized, and stress-free selling experience!

Our Fall 2011 Elizabethtown Sale is open for public shopping on Thursday, September 15 and Friday, September 16 from 10 AM to 8 PM.  We’re open on Saturday, September 17 from 10 AM to 5 PM with many items half price.

Originally posted at ConsignmentMommies.com, here are our 10 Tips for Successful Shopping at a Kentucky Kids Consignment Sale:

  1. Assess your needs – Before you even think about shopping, check to see what you already have.  What did you buy on clearance last season?  Can she still wear those jeans?  Does he have hand-me-down soccer cleats packed away somewhere?  Find out what you need most before heading out to shop.
  2. Dress for success – Comfy clothes and shoes are definitely the way to go.  Some shoppers spend a few hours at our sale making sure they survey all the options, so comfort is key.  Tuck your driver’s license & money into your pocket so you don’t have to worry about a purse while you shop.
  3. Leave the kids at home – It seems ironic to shop for the kids without actually bringing the kids, but we all know it’s much easier and more efficient.  If you’ve properly assessed your needs, you’ll know what sizes to look for.  If you absolutely must bring them along, make sure you know the sale’s rules about strollers and keep older children with you instead of turning them loose on the toy area.
  4. BYOB – Bring your own basket or bag.  Many sales offer shopping baskets or bags, but it’s always best to have your own just in case.  Ikea shopping bags are great.  We’ve also seen shoppers with laundry hampers and even clean, wheeled trashcans!
  5. Do unto others – Basically, play nice.  Everyone wants the best bargains and most sales have enough to go around.  There’s no need to push & shove or take items another shopper has reserved.  If you choose to shop at peak hours, expect to wait a little while in the check-out line, the workers are likely volunteers and are moving as fast as they can.
  6. Plan the shop, shop the plan – Often, sales have photos of past events on their websites so you can see where specific items usually are located.  If you really need a stroller or a Little Tikes kitchen, find out where they will be so you can head there first.  If your child has a wide foot, you may want to start with the shoes.  If you don’t see what you’re looking for, find a volunteer worker and ask!
  7. Think outside the box -  Look for items new with tags that could be used for baby or holiday gifts.   Check the teen book section for the latest in that series that is your guilty pleasure.  Many sales now offer more than just children’s items, some accept adult clothing or housewares as well.
  8. Check & double check – Most sales are unable to accept returns, so check all items closely before getting in the check-out line.  Even the strictest inspection procedures aren’t perfect, so if you find an item that is stained or damaged, give it to a volunteer worker who will remove it from the sales floor.
  9. It’s always worth a second trip - Many of our shoppers return each day of the sale and find new bargains.  Some sales have a re-stock day where sellers bring in additional items and nearly every event holds a discount day where selected items are up to 50% off the marked price.
  10. Volunteer your time & shop early – Volunteers are the key component of any sale and are rewarded with early shopping.  Volunteer presales are often less crowded than public shopping times and offer the best selection of merchandise.  Our volunteers tell us they love the change of routine and meeting other moms while working at the sale.
