Many sellers are starting now to tag for the fall sale and are asking can be brought to the sale.

We accept boys and girls clothing in sizes from preemie to 18 or 20. Girl’s teen clothing should be in junior’s sizes which are odd numbers, not even numbers for adult women. Larger boys sizes like pants sized by waist measurement and length will be accepted. Teen sizes need to be in styles appealing to teens. Don’t forget current styles of maternity & nursing clothing.

Each seller may bring 25 name brand items in women’s sizes (clothing, shoes, handbags, & costume jewelry).

We sell much more than clothing. We accept toys, shoes, accessories, books, movies, strollers, highchairs, pack-n-plays, and so much more. If babies, children, or teens can use it, we’ll probably accept it as long as it meets our quality standards.

Fall and winter clothing is the focus for our fall sales, along with the usual toys, furniture, gear, & equipment. Bring snow boots, warm coats, sweaters, fleece & velvet clothing, and Halloween costumes to this sale. Jeans, polo shirts, capri pants, overalls, and lightweight jackets are appropriate for both spring and fall sales.

We are now registering sellers & volunteer workers for the Elizabethtown Fall 2011 Sale.  To sign up, use the “register/log-in” link and make your selections now.  This will be our fifteenth sale in Elizabethtown and we can’t wait to see everyone again!   Many sellers are already registered and today we’ll begin registering volunteer workers.

With Kentucky Kids Consignment Sales, YOU set the price for your own items, YOU decide if you want your items sold at half-price on the last day of the sale, and YOU receive at least 70% of each item’s selling price. You can choose to donate your unsold items to charity and we’ll handle the donation for you – but YOU still get the tax deduction.  You DO NOT have to be present during the entire sale. You will prepare and tag your own items at home, bring them to check-in, and we’ll do the rest.

Our dedicated crew of volunteer workers is the driving force behind our event.  Without volunteers, the sale could not happen!  We love getting to know you and watching you get to know each other.  We reward our helpers with admission to our exclusive presale events.  Volunteer workers shop before the sale opens to the public and receive first choice of all our quality items! You DO NOT have to be a seller in order to work a volunteer shift and shop the presales. There are several different four hour shifts available.

Tickets are also on sale for our New Parent Presale. This event is for expecting parents or parents with children born after February 1, 2010. Tickets are required for each adult shopping during the event. They are limited and are expected to sell out before the week of the sale. Sellers & workers shop earlier than New Parents, so for the best selection of items at the sale, register to sell or volunteer your time with us.

We are also registering new sponsors. If you are interested in finding out more about our sponsor program and how to get one of the great-looking graphic ads on our website, please email me for the full scoop.

According to our reports from MyConsignment Manager, the Kentucky Kids Consignment Elizabethtown Spring 2011 sale had 61 sellers earn a payout check of $500 or more and 22 of those were over $750.  Seven sellers received a check for over $1000:!

These sellers are moms & dads like you who bring their best items, especially large toys, baby gear, and furniture, to our sale.  They prepare their items well by cleaning toys & gear and ironing clothing.  They include all parts & pieces, user manuals and printouts showing the “going price” for large items if purchased new.  They price items to SELL during full-price shopping instead of pricing too high and hoping their items will sell during our short half-price period.  They also earn an extra 5% for their items by working either 8 or 12 hours as a volunteer, helping us run the sale.

Is your closet, attic, basement, or garage overrun with things your children no longer need?  NOW is the time to get registered and start entering items for our fall sales.  It’s so easy – just head to www.kentuckykidssale.com to register & get started today.  In just a few weeks, you’ll have cash in your hand instead of clutter in your closet!  The Murray Fall Sale is August 18-20 and the Elizabethtown Fall Sale is September 15-17.

We’re getting lots of questions about cribs, so here’s what’s up (as we understand it, at least) as of July 15, 2011.

As of June 28, 2011, the CPSC is enforcing new federal safety standards for ALL cribs. It is now illegal to manufacture, sell, contract to sell or resell, lease, sublet, offer, provide for use, or otherwise place in the stream of commerce a crib that does not comply with the CPSC’s new standards for full-size and non-full-size cribs. This includes manufacturers, retail stores, Internet retailers, resale shops, auction sites and consumers. All cribs must comply with 16 CFR 1219 (the new standard for full-size cribs) or 16 CFR 1220 (the new standard for non-full-size cribs).

In other words, no one – not a store selling new or used items, not Kentucky Kids Consignment Sales, not an eBay seller, not a Craiglist seller, and not an individual holding a garage sale – can legally sell a crib that does not meet these standards. Thrift stores and charitable organizations should not accept cribs that do not meet the new standard either. Daycare centers, church nurseries, and hotels/motels are all required to replace their cribs with ones that conform to the new standard by December 28, 2012. Hospitals do not have to comply with the new standard because hospital cribs are considered medical equipment and are regulated by the FDA.

This new standard is more than just a “recall” on all drop-side cribs. Many stationary-side cribs do not conform to the new standard either, although NO drop-side cribs will conform, so drop-side cribs can now be considered a thing of the past.  You cannot tell if a crib is compliant just by looking at it.  Cribs manufactured prior to 2011 are highly unlikely to be compliant.

So, what does this mean for Kentucky Kids Consignment Sales? It means we likely won’t have any cribs at the sale for the next few seasons as we will only accept cribs the comply with the new standards and are manufactured after June 28, 2011. We urge shoppers to avoid purchasing ANY used crib that does not meet the new standards from any source. If you purchase a new crib that does meet the standards, keep all the paperwork so that we can prove it meets the new standards when you are ready to sell it at one of our events.

We do plan to accept toddler beds that meet the new safety standards issued for them.  So, if your crib converts to a toddler bed and meets the toddler bed safety standards, you can permanently convert it, destroy the crib-only parts, and bring it to one of our sales.

DO NOT WAIT until just before your check-in to print tags as Murphy’s Law nearly always applies to those who wait until the very last minute.

The volunteer and check-in schedule are locked down as well, so you will need to call Jen at 270-734-9543 to change your work shift or check-in time.
